We honestly cannot imagine our son in any school other than Flourish. He loves going to school and he has expressed himself how he enjoys the system of learning at Flourish. It is hands on, experiential learning. Kids have autonomy and most importantly they are trusted to forge their own path. There are also some struggles in this process where... they have to figure certain things out on their own; however, once they are past it, they have gained important lessons in how to learn, persistence and gain more confidence in themselves.Pritika and Saurabh have been so courageous in taking this initiative to set up a school like Flourish in Pune, and we feel fortunate to be a part of this community.read more

We were looking for a place where our child could go explore, keep her curiosity alive and enjoy the process of learning. Worried not being able to find something that fit our learning goals we were about to give up when we found out about Flourish on Google. What we found accidentally turned up to be a beautiful experience for our child.I... can say she is growing up beautifully in an environment that nurtures inquisitiveness and "finding answers or solutions". She learns (and is not taught) at her own pace which helps her revisit her unresolved problems around a topic anytime later when she is ready to pursue the topic.Mixed-age learning is something that has shaped her growing years with empathy, understanding, true friendships and socialising skills.The focus on "growth mindset" gives me a much needed relief as a parent. I really enjoy how she plans herself, sets goals, sometimes achieves and many times fails but doesn't give up!read more

Flourish is one of the best things that could happen to a child. It gives the child the freedom to explore their curiosity and grow at their own pace. The focus is on learning and collaboration which are qualities that will definitely help the kids later in life. I wish there was a school like this when I was a kid. It's a blessing and the guides... take care of the kids like they are their own kids :) The kids love going to school and miss it during vacations which I think is a huge compliment to the atmosphere created by the founders and guides at the school. I hope and wish that more kids and parents experience it.read more

If you want your kids to get educated in a 21st century way, this is the place to go. Our son and daughter had the privilege to go here when we lived in Pune. The Acton principles really fit in this day and age. It encourages the children to think for themselves and let them learn at a pace that works for them. I highly recommend this school for... curious and self driven children. If your child needs a lot of pushing and parenting, this is probably not the right school for your kid. My kids loved it and wherever we are we will follow the Acton learning methodsread more

About Us

We (parents of two children) started Flourish in June 2021. Flourish is an open, alternative, learner-driven, mixed-age school in Pune in partnership with the Acton Academy, Austin. We intend to provide a learner-driven, personalised learning experience for our children and those of other families looking for an educational experience fit for the 21st century.

Currently, the school serves learners in grades of Pre-K – 8 (ages 3-14) and will grow with them until grade 12. We are accredited by The International Association of Learner-Driven Schools (IALDS). Our learners can take exams as private candidates under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Cambridge or the Maharashtra State Board of Open Schooling.

The school partners with the Acton Academy in Austin, Texas, which has been running a similar school in the United States since 2008 with astounding results.
Situated in the heart of Pune, we are conveniently located amidst the scenic beauty of Sopan Baug, a haven of lush greenery.

We employ the latest in educational technology for self-paced mastery of reading, writing and math skills.
We have deep Socratic discussions about heroes, history, ethics and self-governance to hone critical thinking skills and the ability to powerfully think, write and speak.
We have hands-on project based Quests to master the tools and skills necessary to solve problems in the real world.

A Learner Driven Community

Students create and sign a Contract of Promises describing how each individual will act and the consequences for violating community norms.
Mentor teams encourage younger and older students to listen, affirm, set goals and hold each other accountable.
“Learn to Be” badges that celebrate character and completing leadership challenges.

Measuring Mastery. Not test scores.

Earn badges to prove mastery of new skills

Our young learners celebrate the mastery of tools, skills and character by earning badges, assembling portfolios and taking part in public exhibitions.

Parents use badges to track academic progress in Core Skills like reading, writing, math and spelling.
“Learn to Be” badges track character development across studios.
Electronic and hard copy Portfolios capture rough drafts, photos, video and other creative work.
Public exhibitions at the end of most Quests allow young heroes to present work to experts, customers or the public for a real world test.
